Thomas Nepveu Claims Career-Best at Riverside Speedway - Speedway Digest

After three rounds, Thomas Nepveu achieved a remarkable milestone at Riverside International Speedway oval during the Pro•Line 150, securing a top-five finish and a career-best.

Despite it being his first race at this track, Thomas leveraged his oval experience from recent races at Eastbound International Speedway and Autodrome Chaudière to his advantage.

Originally, the race events were set for Saturday and Sunday. However, due to the threat of rain, the Pro•Line 150 and Choko 150 were rescheduled to the same day, with practice and qualifying combined into a single session.

Driving the #24 Richelieu | Home Hardware | Cromwell Ford, Thomas posted a 15.005-second lap time in practice, positioning him in the middle of the pack. He then improved his performance in qualifying, securing the ninth spot on the grid ahead of the Pro•Line 150.

Showing determination and skill, the Oka native climbed up the ranks, engaging in a fierce battle with Alex Guénette for a top-three position. When the checkered flag waved, Thomas crossed the finish line in fourth place, marking a career-best achievement.

Despite the initial race delay, Nepveu was optimistic about his performance in the Pro•Line 150 and eager to tackle the Choko 150 later that evening. Unfortunately, a drive-train issue forced him to retire early in the second race.

“We had a good first race,” said Thomas. “I’m extremely proud of what we have accomplished, this result was a long time coming, but we finally broke through the Top 5. We had a strong pace and momentum going into race two, but unfortunately, we had some mechanical issues. I am looking forward to Ohsweken, it will be fun to return to this dirt track.”

Thomas is now focusing on preparing for the dirt track challenge at Ohsweken Speedway, Ontario, on July 11th.
