Hope for Warriors restores hope for service members through NASCAR

In conjunction with the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Kentucky Speedway, Hope For The Warriors® will continue their “Drive for Hope” program this weekend while hosting three military families during the race weekend.  The service member and their families will have an opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at the sport throughout the weekend, while also participating in the pre-race ceremonies before the VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300.  Continuing their mission to restore self, family and hope for service members and veterans, Hope For The Warriors will utilize the Drive For Hope program to give these service members and their families a weekend they won’t likely forget.

Making a difference within the local community, Hope For The Warriors works specifically with military bases near each racing venue hosting NASCAR events.  This weekend, the organization will host soldiers from Fort Knox, as well as their family members.  In addition to a memorable weekend at the track, the service members will witness first hand how the skills they acquired in the U.S. Army can translate to civilian life, while focusing specifically on the jobs behind NASCAR’s 38-race schedule.

“Hope For The Warriors delivers more than just a weekend at the track,” said Travis Hanson, Hope For The Warriors, Senior Director of Sports & Recreation.  “Together with NASCAR, we offer service members a window into NASCAR operations from top to bottom.  This program has been a great platform for the NASCAR industry to demonstrate that they care about our military—that they are thankful for their service and sacrifices, and that they believe in their future, regardless of injury.  Kentucky Speedway reached out to us specifically to say ‘we want Hope For the Warriors to bring service members to our track,’ and they’ve been very generous in providing us with some additional opportunities for these guests.  Whether it’s been the drivers, teams, NASCAR, or the tracks, it’s been great to see everyone come together to support our service members.”

Hope For The Warriors’ Drive For Hope program will continue to invite service members, veterans and military families to racetracks across the country.  Utilizing NASCAR Racing as a central theme, the program will connect service members and veterans with professionals in the fields of logistics, facilities management, mechanics, transportation, sports promotions and marketing, event planning and more.  For more information, please visit HopeForTheWarriors.org.
