Estenson Rallies for Top-10 Showing at Huset’s Speedway

Tim Estenson capped his weekend with a top-10 run on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway.

The strong outing helped propel Estenson to fifth in the track’s championship standings.

“We’re all happy with the night,” he said. “I think we’re consistently inside the top 10 and we’re fast enough to be in the top five or even podium. Right now we’re happy with how it’s going so far and I think we’ve found something that we all like, that will make our nights a lot easier.”

Estenson qualified eighth quickest in his group to kick off the night before he won a heat race – his third victory of the season – to garner the 13 th starting position in the main event.

“We had a decent time in qualifying and then it makes it easy when you start on the front in the heat,” he said. “Jack (Dover) got the car to rotate really nice for the feature. I couldn’t be any happier with the car. We moved forward to 10 th and we learned something as a team. I think we’re close to making a new base setup that will be good at the beginning of the night and then we can fine tune throughout the night.”

Estenson’s 10th-place result was his third top 10 of the season at the track and fifth overall this season.

The weekend started on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., during the Don Mack Classic with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. Estenson qualified 12 th quickest and placed third in a heat race to lock into the 12 th starting position in the main event.

“The night started out good as we qualified decent,” he said. “In the heat race we were able to finish where we started on a one-lane track. Unfortunately, we battled with a brake issue in the feature. I was only able to make about one lap and I pulled in. The way the track was it was unsafe without brakes and I didn’t want to cause any harm so I decided to pull off.”

Estenson was credited with a 23rd-place result.

This weekend’s racing plan is up in the air on Friday and Saturday with Sunday at Huset’s Speedway locked in.
