The Flowdynamics Sprint Car Team, comprised of Matt McCarthy and Logan Williams, is set to make its 2024 debut when Perris Auto Speedway hosts the season opener for the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars. The race, which is the first of 22 for the 20-year-old racing association, will be the first of 10 on the Flowdynamics home track. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first race will begin at 7:00.
Last season saw the Flowdynamics drivers run a more relaxed schedule in the series. Yorba Linda, California’s Williams contested 11 races and placed 11th in the series championship standings. McCarthy, who lives in the shadow of the Perris track in nearby Riverside, raced seven times.
Williams finished in the top five, five times, and had a season-best fourth-place finish at Perris on June 10th. McCarthy, who was doubling as a little league baseball coach last year, had four top-10 finishes highlighted by a sixth at The PAS on September 23rd.
Before their time in the USAC/CRA Series, both of the drivers competed in the Perris Auto Speedway Young Guns. Williams, the son of National Sprint Car Hall of Famer and inaugural USAC/CRA champion Rip Williams, was the first-ever Young Guns Champ in 2013. One year later he was crowned USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year. Three years after Williams won the Rookie of the Year Award, McCarthy captured the same title.
After Saturday’s race, the Flowdynamics team returns to Perris Auto Speedway for round #2 of the 2024 USAC/CRA championship season on March 16th.
