Brodie Kostecki made three starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East in 2013. While his goals were to learn the new type of race car and contend for strong finishes, his primary focus was obtaining experience that would lead to bigger and better things in 2014.
Armed with a solid foundation from 2013, a strengthened team led by veteran NASCAR crew chief Doug George and the backing of Arcoplate, manufacturer of the world’s most wear-resistant fused-alloy steel plating, Kostecki is ready to make the jump into the next NASCAR K&N Pro Series East star.
Kostecki, 16, and his Team Arcoplate Racing organization will be competing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East full-time in 2014 with an eye towards capturing the Rookie of the Year title and contending for the series championship.
“Last year’s experiences have definitely made us stronger as we go for the Rookie of the Year title in the K&N series,” said Kostecki, a resident of Mooresville, North Carolina. “We went into the K&N series as a new team last year. We hadn’t really experienced anything like those cars before. They’re a lot heavier than the Late Models that I drove for a full season with the UARA series. It was a complete challenge both for the team and for me, especially being new to racing in the States.
“My main goal was to gain respect from my fellow competitors and the officials to make myself known for this year. All that has us ready to contend for Rookie of the Year and maybe also a championship.”
The 2014 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East features 16 events on everything from quarter-mile bullrings to one-mile speedways and treacherous road courses. The diversity of the schedule and the ultra-strong competition excites the Rookie of the Year contender.
