Wood Returns to His Post at Nashville

Return to Post … Jack Wood returns to his post behind the wheel of the No. 91 Chevrolet Silverado RST at Nashville Superspeedway (NSS) on Friday night for the first time since May 24th. This week’s showdown in “Music City” marks the eighth start for the California native as he looks to tally his first top-10 finish of the season. Wood recently delivered a 34-point performance at North Wilkesboro Speedway last month with a 12th-place finish and is focused on improving on that mark in his fourth start at NSS.

Working Out West … Since his last NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series (NCTS) appearance in the No. 91 Chevrolet at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Wood has chased points in the ARCA Menards Series West (AMSW). Wood ran a pair of road course races earlier this month and scored a season-high fifth-place finish at Sonoma Raceway. Through four of 12 races, Wood sits third in the championship standings in pursuit of Bill McAnally Racing’s 12th series title. Wood hopes to parlay his success out west into his fourth NCTS start at NSS. He has three previous appearances with a best finish of 11th which came in the series’ return to the 1.33-mile tri oval in 2021.

Season to Date … Four races remain in the NCTS regular season as Wood and the No. 91 team enter Nashville 11th in the owners’ point standings. Crew chief Kevin Bellicourt and company have tag teamed the season with Wood, Zane Smith, and Vicente Salas behind the wheel and are within reach of a playoff position. The team is only three markers behind the playoff cut line after 12 of 16 regular season events. Smith delivered the team’s best finish of second this season at Kansas Speedway as the trio of drivers have combined for three top-five’s, four top-10’s, and six top-15 results. Wood will tackle two of the next three events while Smith will return to the seat of the No. 91 at Pocono Raceway on July 12th.

Tune In … FOX Sports 2 will have live coverage of all on-track activity from NSS. Activity begins at 4:30 p.m. ET with practice and qualifying followed by the green flag at 8:00 p.m. ET. Jack Wood Quote:

On making his fourth start at Nashville:

“I’m glad to get back in the truck. It definitely feels like it’s been a while since Charlotte and I’ve been looking forward to Nashville for a while. We had a couple good runs out west in our NAPA Auto Care Chevy since then and showed some speed, so hopefully we’ll have more of the same on the truck side this week. I’ve been able to run all three races at Nashville, so I feel like I have a good amount of experience there. There’s only four more races until the playoffs, and we’d love to get into the owners’ points playoff. We have a great opportunity to get it and are right there. We just need to maximize what we have each week and be consistent to make it happen.”
