Chad Finchum competed in his second NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event with the Martin-McClure Racing team in the United Site Services 70 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Driving the No. 39 Reynolds Wrap Toyota Camry, Finchum qualified 21st and finished in the 14th position.
In practice, Finchum reported the car to be “just a little tight.” With only one hour of practice, Finchum ran his fastest lap time around the one-mile track at 31.095 seconds with a speed of 122.489 mph. Finchum qualified for the event in the 21st position with his fastest lap being 30.982 seconds at a speed of 122.936 mph.
At the start of the race, Finchum was quick to gain a few spots and moved up to the 17th position. He maintained this position for the first 30 laps of the race. Around that time, a multi-car collision occurred causing the red flag to come out to allow for cleanup on the track. During this time, Finchum reported the car to be “snug through the corner” and came to pit road for minor adjustments before restarting in 20th position. As the race neared its conclusion, Finchum was able to gain a few more positions. With 7 laps to go, a one-car incident occurred and the caution flag was displayed. On the restart, Finchum was able to advance to the 13th position. The final caution was brought out with 4 laps to go due to debris on the track. On the restart, Finchum secured the 14th position where he stayed for the remainder of the race.
Finch’s next race of the season will be at Iowa Speedway on July 29th and he will then travel to Dover International Speedway on September 30th for his final race of the season.
