Back West to California

After a difficult finish in Bristol, TN last Saturday at Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 300, Hal is ready to head back out west to compete in the Royal Purple 300 at Auto Club Speedway. This will be Martin’s first time competing at this venue and he and his No.44 American Custom Yachts Toyota Camry team are fired up and ready for the event.

Hal Martin on Auto Club Speedway

How are you preparing yourself for this upcoming race?
Hal stated “I’ve heard that the key to this track is to carefully navigate your way through the corners without crossing the seams in the racetrack. I’ve never had the opportunity to race on this track so I plan on watching video of previous races and talking with my TriStar Motorsports teammates, as I do before every race. It’s been awesome to learn from Mike Bliss and Eric McClure who have been around in this sport for so long.”

How do you think this track will compare to other tracks you’ve competed on in the past?
“I have not raced at Auto Club Speedway yet; however, I have raced in the ARCA Series at Michigan International Speedway before it was repaved, which was a track with the same configuration as Auto Club Speedway. I think this track will race similarly to Michigan and allow for us to fan out and try different lines in the corners making for really good side-by-side racing.”

Do you have any appearances planned for California?
Hal replied, “This week I will be signing autographs at two different events. The first is on Friday, March 22 at Auto Club Speedway from 4:30pm – 5:15pm and the second will be on Saturday, March 23 from 9:30am – 10am.” Follow Hal on twitter @HalMartinRacing for further details regarding these and other appearances.
