ML Motorsports and Johanna Long to Stay Paired in 2013

Before the 2012 season Johanna Long signed a two-year contract with ML Motorsports in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. The No. 70 team and Long had a successful first season working together and are prepared to move ahead in 2013 with a similar schedule.

“We’re working on everything as a team,” Long said. “I know the team is working incredibly hard on everything back at the shop including our pit stops. We take notes at the end of every race and again at the end of the season and we’re going to focus on improving at every level.”

Long, at the age of 20, ran in 21 of the 33 races with ML Motorsports and finished 20th in the drivers standings. She did not score a top ten finish but did have three top 15’s. Her best two finishes came at Daytona in July and Kentucky in September when she finished in 12th. She also came away with a 13th at Iowa in August. The No. 70 team also ran 11 races without Long in the car in 2012 and as a team finished 27th in the owners points.

The team has not officially announced the schedule that Long will race in 2013 but it’s expected to be similar to what she ran in 2012 unless she can come up with more sponsorship. Long hopes to keep impressing and turning heads on her NASCAR ascent with a goal of eventually reaching the Sprint Cup Series. In 2010 she ran seven Camping World Truck Series races and in 2011 raced in 17.
