Excellent qualifying effort spoiled by late race engine failure
After another stellar qualifying effort, Jason Bowlesstarted the Dollar General 300 in the 15th position. Driving the 25Hill.com No. 81, Bowlesencountered engine issues throughout the race and lost his motor on lap 168,ending his day. Jason was left with a 28thplace finishing position when the dust was settled.
“We had a great car forqualifying but we just couldn’t find the balance for the race,” explained crewchief John Monsam. “We tried everythingto fix it but it just wasn’t going to happen. Then the motor let go on us. Itwas a tough weekend for sure but we will be back strong next weekend inChicago. The guys on this team just keeppushing through any adversity and impress me every week.”
The 15th placequalifying effort was a big confidence booster going into the race Saturdayafternoon. This was the 5thtop-15 starting position for Jason Bowles and his team this season.
Even after the rough luck,Jason still remains 14th in the driver standings. Bowles also maintained his position in theowner standings, sitting 22nd.
Next week, MacDonaldMotorsports will welcome new partner Thrush and Son Complete Home Improvementand Hi-Technologies to the No. 81 car. The Kentucky 300 can be seen live on ESPN2 at 3:30pm ET this Saturday.
