Race fans know what happens every week when Trevor Bayne, the 2011 Daytona 500 winner and Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year and current series point leader compete on the race track. But what happens after two of the fastest-rising stars on the NASCAR circuit park their cars for the weekend? More competition.
RickyvsTrevor.com, a new website launched today by Roush Fenway Racing, promises to provide not only an inside glimpse of their two youngest wheel men, but a behind the scenes look at the competitive nature that drives their racing success on the track.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Stenhouse Jr., who claimed the Nationwide Series point lead last week in California. “Trevor and I can be pretty competitive, but we have a lot of fun with it. It doesn’t matter if we’re racing for the lead coming off of turn two, or a foot race through the parking lot at the hotel on the way to dinner – we both want to win!”
“This is something that Ricky and Trevor really encouraged us to do,” said Roush Fenway president Steve Newmark. “What you have to understand is that this is the way these guys are. Even if we weren’t shooting it and posting it online, this is stuff they’d be doing anyway. This is their life 24/7.
“The world’s going to see not only how competitive Ricky and Trevor are, but that they are really down-to-earth, well-spoken young guys who have a terrific future in this sport. They are great friends off the track, but when the engines fire up they are fierce competitors. Even during some of these competitions fans are going to see that neither one of them is comfortable with second place. It’s a lot of fun and we think the fans will get a kick out of it.”
RickyvsTrevor.com will feature ongoing competitions ranging from on-track performances to battles of brawn, brain, and maybe even a test of their musical abilities.
“Ricky is a great guy and we have a lot of fun,” said Bayne, who captured the Daytona 500 trophy last month. “He’s one of my best friends, but we do love to compete and make no mistake, neither one of us likes to lose. This might get pretty intense, but I can’t wait.”
