Mike Wallace looking for rock solid results at Granite State’s NHIS this weekend

Mike Wallace and the No. 01 Chevrolet team of JD Motorsports with Gary Keller are looking to have solid results at New Hampshire International Speedway on Saturday.

His teammate, Danny Efland, will be wheeling the No. 4 Chevrolet for the team at the one-mile oval located in the Granite State’s town of Loudon. And, like many members of the NASCAR community, there should be a fair share of seafood consumption in the New England state, as well.

  • This will be the St. Louis native’s 433rd career start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
  • For the 2012 season, he will be making his 17th NNS start.
  • During that span, the four-time career winner has completed 2,584 of 2,819 laps (91.7 percent) contested and led four races
  • His best start, 15th, took place last week at Daytona International Speedway and his best finish, 15th, occurred at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May
  • The team has earned seven top-20 finishes, four of them coming in the last six races
  • Currently 15th in the Driver’s Standings, Wallace trails 14th by six markers and 13th by 13 points
  • As far as NHIS, he’s enjoyed some commendable numbers there in his previous 10 starts
  • Completing 1,892 of 2,156 (87.8 percent) has come off of one top-five and three top-10 finishes. He’s also led 20 circuits around the one-mile oval
  • His best start was 13th, which took place in 1994 and 2006. His best finish of third took place in 1995

  • The Irmo, S.C. native will be making his 47th career NNS start, ninth of 2012 and third at NHIS in the No. 4 Chevrolet this weekend.
  • His best finish this year took place at Daytona, where he was 13th in February and last week
  • This season, he’s completed 1,006 of 1,219 laps (82.5 percent) contested

Mike Wallace Quotes: “This track is in one of the most beautiful areas we race at all season long. Many teams try to stay on one of the many lakes in the area and take advantage of all the local area has to offer.

“The track is tricky in how long the straights are and how flat the turns are when you go into them. Practice is going to be very important on Friday for both sessions we have scheduled.

“You need to be good off the corners with forward bite to get you down the straightaways . Once you get the handling right, you have to make sure the motor has the power to pull you off the corner

“Newt (Moore, crew chief) and the team have been working on our chassis for each track and we’re starting to see the improvement. If we can get it all together, we’ll be good to go. I’ve had some great runs at New Hampshire and led some laps there in the past. And, I see no reason why we can’t be good again with our team this weekend.”
