22nd for Jason Bowles at Kentucky

To say it was a hot day at Kentucky Speedway Friday night would be a huge understatement.  Triple digit temperatures put the drivers and crews to the test for the Feed the Children 300, the 15th race on the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule.  After another solid top-20 qualifying effort from Jason Bowles, the team battled hard to record a 22nd place finish.

“We had a pit road speeding penalty just before halfway that really hurt us,” explained Bowles.  “The American Majority Toyota was really fast but we just could never get back to the top-20 after that.  I really have to thank my crew for everything they did today.  It’s the hottest day of the summer so far and they worked right through the heat.  Everyone really did an excellent job.”

The 19th place qualifying run was the seventh top-20 starting position of the 2012 season thus far for Jason and his team.   It was also the team’s 10th top-25 finish this year.  Jason remains 14th in the driver standings following the race while the MacDonald Motorsports No. 81 still sits 22nd in the owner standings.

Next weekend, the American Majority team heads back to Daytona for the Subway Jalapeno 250.  The race can be seen live on ESPN, Friday night at 7pm EST.
