Mike Wallace and Restaurant.com Chevrolet have a positive eye on Iowa

Mike Wallace and the No. 01 Restaurant.com Chevrolet team of JD Motorsports have their sights set on a good finish at Iowa Speedway this weekend.

Having a unique Sunday-race day for the NASCAR Nationwide Series provides an upgraded focus on the second-tier division for fans accustomed to watching Sprint Cup Series racing that day. For Wallace, it’s a cranked up a little more because his brother, Rusty, was a principal designer in the 7/8-mile, Midwestern oval.

Newt Moore, crew chief, and the JD Motorsports team have worked very hard on this week’s Chevrolet – just as they always do each week. Johnny Davis, owner, has been hard at work to make sure the team has all they need to do the best job possible.

Wallace knows his way around a track like Iowa and enjoys the high-banked action and speed the track produces. Now, they just all need to put that collective energy into their car to get a great finish on Sunday afternoon.

Tune in for the Win

There is one practice session on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. ET that is not being televised. The same goes for qualifying at 4:30 p.m. later that same day. However, you can catch all 250 laps of action on ESPN at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, or tune into MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Ch. 90 to hear the race.

Mike Wallace Quotes: “Iowa Speedway is the perfect type of track for me. I’m not saying that just because my brother, Rusty, helped design it and is involved with the track. I’m saying it because it has a short-track feel for being almost a mile-long in length. I started my career on tracks with this type of layout and I look forward to racing a place like Iowa.

“The corners have some great banking to them and, if you’re not careful going into Turns 1 and 3, you can end up in mess exiting Turns 2 and 4. We saw that a bunch of times in the first three races I’ve ran there.

“The people that come out to this race are incredible. They had to bring in extra bleachers each time to accommodate everyone who wanted to see some NASCAR racing. So, it’s up to me and the Restaurant.com Chevrolet team to put on a good show for them and get a great finish.”
