Brandon Brown Darlington Throwback Weekend

Brandonbilt Motorsports and Coastal Carolina University reveal NASCAR driver and CCU alumnus Brandon Brown’s throwback car at Darlington Raceway.

This event is in conjunction with Darlington Raceway’s Throwback Weekend (August 30th – September 1st) that focuses on the years 1990-1994. Brown’s No. 86 Coastal Carolina ZL1 Chevrolet Camaro throwback look will pay homage to Terry Labonte’s 1993 Kellogg’s Cornflakes car; 1993 is the year CCU achieved status as an independent, public institution. Brown and Labonte both spoke with the media, along with Kerry Tharp, president of Darlington Raceway.

Brown, 25, graduated from CCU in 2018 with a degree in communication and now races full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 68 and No. 86 Chevrolet Camaros for Brandonbilt. This is the third year that CCU is the driver and car sponsor of Brandon Brown.

Labonte started his racing career at Darlington in 1978 and is a two-time NASCAR Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion. He was named one of NASCAR’s 50 greatest drivers in 1998 and was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2016.
