Comcast NBCUniversal, a recognized leader in the military community, will honor the unique sacrifices and showcase support of United States Armed Forces heroes, past and present, with an array of activation programs during NASCAR Salutes Refreshed by Coca-Cola, an industry-wide expression of respect and appreciation for those who are serving and have served the nation.
Fans watching the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Chicagoland Speedway will see a patriotic red, white and blue Comcast NBCUniversal “Salute to Service” paint scheme adorning the No. 81 Xtreme Concepts Racing Toyota Supra driven by Jeffrey Earnhardt. Also, for the fourth consecutive season, all NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers will bear the names of active military units and installations on their race car windshields in place of the traditional Xfinity branding during the NASCAR Xfinity Series event at Daytona International Speedway. NASCAR and teams collaborated with Comcast to select these military units and installations to showcase the industry’s strong ties back to the military community.
“At Comcast NBCUniversal, our sustained commitment to our nation’s military community has never been stronger,” said Brigadier General (Ret.) Carol Eggert, Senior Vice President of Military and Veteran Affairs at Comcast NBCUniversal. “We truly value the tremendous contributions of those who serve our country and wanted to recognize them and their families in a special way as we celebrate our country’s independence.”
In addition to the paint scheme and windshield headers, Comcast NBCUniversal is connecting NASCAR with the local military community. In all, more than 100 local service members with their families will receive grandstand tickets and access to race day activities and events at Chicagoland Speedway.
Earnhardt will also make a public appearance at the Xfinity Store in Joliet, Ill. (2802 Plainfield Road) on Thursday, June 27 from 6 – 7 p.m. CT with fan activities beginning at 4 p.m.
“I’m really excited to be partnering with Comcast and the military on the Comcast Salute to Service Toyota for Chicagoland Speedway,” said Jeffrey Earnhardt. “Our race team at Xtreme Concepts Racing feels as though we can’t ever do enough for the men and women that protect us and it’s awesome to be partnered with a company like Comcast that feels the same. We will give the fans at Chicagoland Speedway and watching on NBCSN something awesome to cheer for. Hopefully, they watch us park it in victory lane.”
Comcast NBCUniversal is proud of its long-standing reputation as a military-friendly and military-ready company. That starts with their commitment to hiring military community members – veterans, National Guard and Reserve members and military spouses. Comcast hired more than 10,000 military community members from 2015 to 2017 and are committed to hire 11,000 more by the end of 2021. Also, as a “thank you” for their service, veterans and actively-serving military customers can get a $100 prepaid card and $25 Xfinity coupon by visiting https://www.xfinity.com/ military.
The Philadelphia-based company also strives to connect veterans to the internet, so they can better navigate the complexities of transitioning back to civilian life. This included a grant that was distributed to Veteran Services Organizations in NASCAR Xfinity Series Dash 4 Cash race markets to build Internet Essentials Digital Rally Points, which provide digital literary training for veterans. Internet Essentials is the largest and most comprehensive broadband adoption program for low-income households and veterans in the United States.
