“That was a weird race with those early cautions that took out a lot of our playoff competition. Once those early wrecks happened, we knew that we needed to base our race around getting as many stage points as possible to start this Round of 8 in a good way. Unfortunately, that strategy went a little to the wayside when I had a bad vibration in the right front tire during Stage 1, so we had to pit to prevent that from getting worse. Once we pitted, the vibration was gone, and I was able to jump back up into the top 10 for some extra points during the next two stages. We got a shot at the lead late in the final stage when the caution came out and everyone else pitted. It didn’t make sense for us to pit then because we only had our scuffed set left with about the same amount of laps on them as the set on our No. 2 American Ethanol / Sorghum Camaro. I couldn’t get the takeoff I wanted on that restart and got shuffled back a little bit, but managed to stay in the sixth spot for the end of the race. Overall, this was a good day for us to pick up a lot of points and put us in striking distance of the Championship Four. We also have a good benchmark for where we need to be when we roll off at Texas Motor Speedway in a couple weeks, so we’ll keep at it there.”

“Our goal as a team was to capitalize on a good weekend by having a strong race, and I think we accomplished that. This is the best our Childress Vineyards Chevrolet has felt from start to finish – from the time we unloaded the car from the hauler, through first practice and right until the end of the race. On the first lap, everyone crashed right behind me. It was wild. I had this eerie feeling coming to the green that something like that would happen. The track just had so much grip to it. During Stage 1, our Childress Vineyards Chevrolet was really strong, especially when we were able to race in the high line against the outside wall. Our Chevy started off Stage 2 free, but then got tighter and tighter as we ran. Nick Harrison and the team made flawless adjustments throughout the race, and the pit crew maintained or gained positions each stop, so big hats off to them. At the end, it was all about hitting our marks and we managed to do that en route to a fourth-place finish. I’m proud of this team.”

“We really showed the strength of Richard Childress Racing’s NASCAR Xfinity Series program this weekend, especially with this No. 21 South Point Chevrolet. It was great to run up front and earn stage points and the pit crew did a great job to get us off pit road like we needed to all day. Unfortunately I was just unbelievably loose that whole last run.  That was the loosest I had been all weekend or at any mile-and-a-half we’ve been to in a couple of months. I’m not sure what happened, it just wasn’t meant to be, I guess. We did a lot of things well, way more things well than bad. I am proud of that. I’m proud of our effort, proud of our pit crew and the things we did. I don’t know. I just have to have faith that it will all work out the way it is supposed to when it is supposed to, just not today.”
