Garrett Smithley Finishes In The Top-25 at Iowa Speedway

Garrett Smithley overcame an early accident to finish in 25th place in Sunday’s Iowa 250 presented by Enogen at Iowa Speedway.

Smithley’s No. 0 JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet Camaro advanced to round two of NASCAR Xfinity Series qualifying and started the race in 20th place. A mechanical issue sent Smithley into the wall on lap two, but the team was able to battle back into the top-25 by the time the checkered flag flew.

“It’s a relief to bring home a top-25 after the day we had, and it really speaks volumes about the guys on this ‘Number Nuthin’’ team,” said Smithley. “We had such a fast car all weekend, and I really feel like we could have had a great finish. Right at the start of the race, I felt something break, and the car went into the wall. My team got everything fixed, and we worked hard the rest of the race gaining ground. I’m looking forward to a week off and then on to Chicago.”

The NASCAR Xfinity Series will take a one-week break before heading to Chicagoland Speedway for the Overton’s 300 on June 30th, 2018.
