Scott Riggs and R3 Motorsports Heads to Las Vegas!

R3 Motorsports is entered in both races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend.

Robert Richardson, Jr. will be wheeling the North Texas Pipe/Riviera Hotel No. 23 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nationwide Series for R3 Motorsports for the 18th Annual Sam’s Town “300” at the 1.5 mile speedway. He will be driving driving chassis #39, the same car he ran at Homestead at the end of last season. The team, led by crew chief Greg Conner, feels like they are building momentum coming off a great race in Homestead and then in Daytona last month.

Conner states, “This team is really starting to come together and gaining confidence. Rob Jr and spotter, Jimmy Kitchens, are really working well together and the crew is working hard. We had a great run in Daytona and look forward having a good race out here in Vegas.”

Robert Richardson, Jr is excited about heading west. Richardson says, “Vegas has always been a good racetrack for me, well…..except for the time I broke my collar bone there….but that’s beside the point! We are always competitive there and the track is pretty forgiving and has mulitiple grooves to race in. The only tricky part about the track is getting onto pit road under green flag racing conditions. Everyone should look forward to a great race at LVMS.”

Richardson, Jr’s sense of humor regarding breaking his collar bone goes back a few years when Annett and a few other cars wrecked in front of him and he turned down to avoid them, got in their oil, spun and hit drivers side and broke his collar bone.

Scott Riggs will be piloting the #23 North Texas Pipe/Riviera Hotel Chevrolet in the Sprint Cup series race. Coming off the team’s best qualifying effort in Phoenix last week, the team hopes to continue proving themselves at NASCAR’s top level.

Riggs comments, “We had an awesome car out in Phoenix last week, so I am looking forward to getting to Vegas. These guys work so hard preparing the Chevrolet’s and I’m excited about the progress we are making!”
