Jason Bowles Begins His Quest for 2012 Nationwide Rookie of the Year

Jason Bowles and the American Majority Racing No. 81 Dodge Challenger will make their racing debut together this weekend in the DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway.  Bowles and his MacDonald Motorsports team are looking to make a run for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year award while driving more people to the polls this election year.

NASCAR needs more drivers like Jason Bowles, period.  Jason has worked all his life for this chance at the big stage and has done it all with good, old fashioned hard work.  Bowles still maintains his job as the Oakley Sales Representative in the Mooresville, NC area while piloting the American Majority Racing No. 81 for MacDonald Motorsports.

“I’m so grateful to American Majority and MacDonald Motorsports for giving me this opportunity,” said Bowles.  “I’ve been waiting for this chance for a long time now and I am going to do everything I can to make this a successful year for myself and my team.  As for the race itself, in a few days I can finally stop lying in bed awake thinking about drafting and rehearsing how it may or may not go in my head.  The nervous excitement won’t go away until I get in the car.”

Jason actually does have one career start at Daytona under his belt.  Last season, Bowles ran the ARCA opener at the World Center of Racing, recording an impressive top-5 result.  “I learned a lot about drafting and being patient last season in the ARCA race at Daytona,” explained Bowles.  “That’s definitely going to be the plan for the first ¾ of the race Saturday as well.  Anyone on the lead lap with 10 to go has the chance to come away with a strong finish, and I want to be one of those cars.”

American Majority Racing comes on board this year with Jason and the MacDonald Motorsports No. 81 Dodge as the primary sponsor, beginning this weekend in Daytona.  American Majority is a conservative organization looking to make a difference with the goal of getting as many people as possible registered and pledging to vote.  The red, white, and blue paint scheme should really stand out on the race track this weekend in Daytona and hopefully bring awareness to the 2012 elections.

Fans will have the chance to meet Jason and get his autograph each day over the weekend at the American Majority Racing booth on vendor row.  While at the booth, they can also register to vote, race iRacing simulators, play games, win prizes, and get their picture taken in front of an exact replica of the American Majority Racing No. 81 car.

All the work during the off season that brought MacDonald Motorsports, American Majority, and Jason Bowles together will culminate in the DRIVE4COPD 300 at Daytona International Speedway this Saturday.  The race can be seen live on ESPN at 1:15 P.M. EST.  Be sure to tune in and cheer on Jason and his American Majority Racing No. 81 Dodge Challenger.
