Spencer Gallagher No. 23 Allegiant Chevrolet Camaro Richmond Race Recap

Spencer Gallagher and the No. 23 Allegiant team qualified 23rd for the VA529 College Savings 250 NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Richmond Raceway. Gallagher reported early in the 250-lap event that his Allegiant Chevrolet was extremely tight. He pitted under the first caution of the night from the 29th position on lap 54 for four tires, fuel and a big chassis adjustment. Happy with the adjustment, he progressed to the 23rd position where he ended the first stage.

As the leaders hit pit road at the end of stage one, Gallagher followed to stay on the same pit cycle, receiving four tires and fuel. Restarting 27th, he gained several spots on the restart and held his position throughout the 75 lap stage to finish stage two in the 22nd position.

Under the stage two break, Gallagher visited his Allegiant team for four tires, fuel and a slight chassis adjustment to help with more stability in the center. He maintained his position in 22nd for the remainder of the race, finishing two laps down to the leader.

Quote
“The Allegiant team worked hard today to get us a good Camaro for tonight’s race. Unfortunately our handling was a little too tight to start and once you go down a lap at Richmond it’s hard to get it back. With the way things were going it was more important for us to stay in sync with what the leaders were doing so we didn’t end up on old tires at the end. Overall, I think we learned a lot and we’ll be able to gain on this finish when we come back next year.”

Additional Info
– Gallagher is in the 21st position in driver points.
