Jeb Burton Shines with Career Best Fourth Place Finish in Daytona

After being plagued with some bad luck in his two previous NASCAR XFINITY Series starts in the No. 24 Estes Express Lines Toyota, Jeb Burton had some things fall his way at “The World Center of Speed”.  Burton showcased his
talent as he steered his JGL Racing entry to an XFINITY Series career best fourth place finish in the running of the Coca-Cola Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway.
 
“Man, I thought we had a very good chance to win this race on that last restart,” said Burton.  “The 20 car ran out of fuel there in front of us and that slowed our momentum a little.  The guys at JGL Racing gave me a really fast car.  We did have an issue with a little vibration and oil leak throughout the race but it didn’t really seem to affect our No. 24 Estes Express Lines Toyota too much.”
 
Burton would qualify in the 17th position but would have to fall to the rear of the field to fix a battery cable issue that surfaced during the qualifying session.  Jeb would move forward in the opening laps and be sitting in the 26th position when rain forced the race to be delayed until Saturday afternoon.  Before taking the green flag on Saturday, Jeb would duck down pit road for a few adjustments which proved helpful.  Back to racing, the No. 24 Estes
 
Express Lines would surge through the field and settle inside the top-10 quickly. The end of the first stage would find Jeb sitting in the eighth spot.
 
Once again rain would fall upon Daytona International Speedway forcing a long delay.  Once back to racing, Burton would give up track position to come down pit road to diagnose an oil leak discovered during the delay.  Jeb would take it easy while feeling out his No. 24 Estes Express Lines Toyota.  The second stage would end with Burton sitting in the 29th position.
 
With the issue on his No. 24 Estes Express Lines Toyota appearing to be minimized, the final 40 laps of the event would see Jeb resume back to racing and move forward in the field.  The Virginia native would make some good moves to avoid a few accidents and as a result work his way back inside the top-10.  With the race going to overtime, the No. 24 Estes Express Lines Toyota would be sitting in the fourth spot with the driver’s sights set on the win. 
 
Unfortunately, the car in front of Burton would stumble at the start which would break his momentum.  With the race ending under caution just after passing the overtime line, Burton would settle for the career best fourth place finish.
 
“I lost my momentum when the 20 car ran out of fuel there on that last restart,” added Jeb.  “I was able to recover and was building up a good run when the race ended under caution.  Overall this was a very good day but I really wanted that win.  We will look to carry this momentum onto Kentucky next week and try to get us another top-five finish.”
 
The JGL Racing team and Burton will next head to Kentucky Speedway for the running of the Alsco 300.  The 16th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Friday July 7th and can be seen LIVE on NBCSN at 8:00 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Performance Racing Network (PRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
