Spencer Gallagher No. 23 Allegiant Chevrolet Camaro Dover Recap

Dover Recap:

Spencer Gallagher and the No.23 Allegiant team overcame many obstacles this weekend at Dover International Speedway. Gallagher was involved in an incident during first practice. The damage was too severe to fix causing the team to pull out the back up car. Gallagher got one 55 minute practice session with the car before having to qualify.

Gallagher started the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) OneMain Financial 200 from the 24th position. The Las Vegas native radioed to crew chief Joey Cohen that he was struggling with being tight on throttle. Cohen decided to wait to pit after stage one was complete. Gallagher finished stage one in the 12th position. The No.23 Allegiant Chevrolet came to pit for four tires, fuel, wedge and air pressure adjustments returning to the field in the 17th position. Gallagher was battling within the top-20 before he was experiencing electrical issues in turn two that brought out the sixth caution of the day on lap 77. The car was towed to the garage and the team worked diligently to fix the issue. Gallagher returned to the field in the 36th position on lap 104. Gallagher and the Allegiant team never gave up and brought home a 31st place finish.

Quote:
“Dover was not our friend. First we had to bring out the back up in practice and then we had an electric issue in the race. Even though it wasn’t the best weekend I can’t say enough about this GMS Racing team. They worked their tails off this weekend to get the back up ready and to fix the electric issue to get me back on track. We need to keep our heads up and focus going to the Tricky Triangle (Pocono Raceway) next.”
