Houff Finishes 27th in NASCAR XFINITY series debut at Richmond

Quin Houff backed up an impressive finish at Bristol with a solid performance in his first NASCAR XFINITY race at the Richmond International Raceway, finishing the second practice 6th fastest in a 42 car field behind the wheel of the No. 46 BeatinCancerWithDuke.org Camaro fielded by Precision Performance Motorsports. After starting 27th in a tight field, Quin finished the finished the ToyotaCare 250 in the 27th position.

In what was Houff’s second race in an XFINITY racecar, and Quin showed that he was up for the challenge.  Houff continued to prove that he is prepared to take on the upper levels of NASCAR and how effective the Precision Performance Motorsports program is in providing rising stars of NASCAR with the best opportunities to race competitively in the upper NASCAR series and battle with the sport’s best drivers. Houff first qualifying effort at this challenging track was only half a tenth out of the top 20 in an extremely tight field of experienced drivers.

“Had another great weekend with Precision Performance Motorsports”, said Quin. “All weekend we worked hard getting me used to the track and dialing the car in. To end practice 6th on the boards was a great accomplishment. Then to come back and run half a second faster in qualifying was a true testament to our hard work paying off. Even though the race and strategies didn’t play out for us in the race we have nothing to hang our heads about. We have been the little team that could these past two weeks and I hope more opportunities come up! It’s been a blessing to live the dream I have been chasing since I was 8. I also can’t thank all my family, friends, and fans enough for all the support. It’s been an amazing two weeks.”

“After a great weekend of racing at Bristol Motor Speedway Quin Houff rolled into RIR and continued to show why he is a up and coming star in our sport”, said Crew Chief Mark Setzer. “Picking up speed quickly throughout the first practice and ending final practice in the 6th position shows just how competitive our PPM team is and Quin’s driving skill. Barely missing the second round of qualifying Quin continued to impress through the race and brought home another solid finish for our PPM team. I look forward to continuing to work with Quin and helping to lead him to more top performances in upcoming races.

Quin began branding his racecars with the “Beatin’ Cancer with Duke” campaign to honor his mother and grandmother, who were both diagnosed with breast cancer. The campaign, which incorporates Quin’s Duke Cancer Institute fundraising website which launched in 2016, honors all women who are currently fighting cancer or have battled with cancer in the past.
