Corey LaJoie Slides to 16th Place Finish in Atlanta

Corey LaJoie returned to the JGL Racing Young Guns program on Saturday for the first of his NASCAR XFINITY Series events in 2017.  The second-generation racer would steer the No. 24 JGL Racing Young Guns Toyota to a 16th place finish in the running of the Rinnai 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
“In all this was a pretty good day for me and the JGL Racing guys,” said LaJoie.  “Together we fought hard, slide around and had some fun this afternoon.  With this new package on these XFINITY cars there is a good amount for all of us to learn.  I think we did just that today and I look forward to utilizing that when I get back in the No. 24 Toyota in a few weeks in California.”
Corey would start the 163-lap event from the 19th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day.  LaJoie would charge forward when the green flag flew and quickly slide inside the top-15.  While he was battling a little tight condition on his No. 24 Young Guns Toyota, he would settle into the 14th position at the end of the first segment on lap 40.
With four fresh tires and a few adjustments, LaJoie would ride inside the top-15 during the 40 laps of the second segment.  While still battling a tight condition, the JGL Racing crew would make some further adjustments to the No. 24 Toyota on a trip down pit road at the end of that segment.

The second half of the race would see much of the same for LaJoie as he battled for key positions on the track inside the top-15.  When the checkered flag flew, the No. 24 Toyota would safely cross the finish line in the 16th spot.
“I want to thank all of the guys on JGL Racing for their hard work this weekend,” added Corey.  “We had a solid No. 24 Toyota and learned a good amount.  I cannot wait to get to California with these guys again in a few weeks.”
The JGL Racing team will next head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the running of the Boyd Gaming 300 with Drew Herring climbing behind the wheel of the No. 24 Young Guns Toyota.  The third race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday March 11th and can be seen LIVE on FOX Sports 1 at 4:00 pm ET.
