Ryan Newman joins Reed Sorenson in Dollar General Colors

Turner Motorsports is pleased to announce the addition of veteran driver, Ryan Newman, to this season’s driver line-up.  Newman will pilot the No. 30 Dollar General Chevrolet in the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Phoenix International Raceway on February 26.  The No. 30 will feature a reverse yellow on black paint scheme to compliment the No. 32 Dollar General Chevrolet driven by teammate Reed Sorenson.

“I’m looking forward to getting in a Nationwide car again and being associated with Turner Motorsports,” said Newman.  “My Cup debut was at Phoenix back in 2000, so I enjoy racing there, but going around there has its moments.   Both ends of the track are totally different, and it seems almost impossible to get both ends to work perfectly.  I like a challenge – it keeps me on my toes.  Hopefully it will be a fun night of racing.”

The Phoenix start marks Newman’s first with Turner Motorsports and Dollar General, but he is no stranger to the Nationwide Series.  In 62 starts, Newman has seven wins, 17 top-fives, 34 top-10s and 12 pole awards, which translates into a top-10 finish in over half of his starts.  The South Bend, Ind.-native has one previous Nationwide Series start at Phoenix International Raceway.

“My association with Turner Motorsports is new this year and I’m looking forward to getting to know the crew,” Newman added.  “I know Dollar General will have a lot of customers in the stands watching.  I just hope to give them a good show.”

The No. 30 Dollar General team will be led by veteran crew chief Stewart Cooper.
