TriStar Motorsports Post-Race Report: Homestead

Yeley Concludes Season with 13th Place Finish

JJ Yeley, driver of the No. 44 Zachry Toyota  qualified 19th for the Ford EcoBoost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Early in the race, when the first caution flag was displayed, Yeley was 15th and relayed the Zachry Toyota was snug on entry and free on exit. With the following caution, on lap 23, Crew Chief Frankie Kerr called Yeley to pit for adjustments to free up the handling and he rejoined the field in the 22nd position. As the adjustments settled with a long green flag run, the No. 44 became loose in the right rear remaining free on exit. With no caution in sight, Yeley pitted under green flag for adjustments cycling back to the field in the 27th position. As the race progressed, Yeley continued to battle loose exit handling. His handling improved through a series of pit stops for chassis adjustments enabling him to move through the field eventually breaking into the top-10. He stayed consistent running in the top-15 for the final laps of the 200 lap event. Yeley’s determination paid off as he ultimately took the checkers in the 13th position to close out the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series season.

Yeley:  Another hard fought top-15 to finish the 2016 XFINITY season.  Frank and the guys had the Zachry Toyota tuned up this weekend. It looked like we had a shot at a top-10 before a late caution with 10 laps to go. We had some issues all day with the right front tire that caused slow pit stops for my pit crew. I restarted 17th and was able to get back to 13th before the final checker flew for 2016. I want to thank Zachry for allowing me to represent them as well as the Smith Family for having the confidence in my ability to help elevate their XFINITY program. My crew battled all year long and never gave up. I’m so proud of everyone involved with TriStar Motorsports and looking forward to what’s to come in the future.
