DiBenedetto Claims 11th Place Finish at Kansas Speedway

Matt DiBenedetto, driver of the No. 14 Superior Essex Toyota, concludes the Kansas Lottery 300 with an 11th place finish for TriStar Motorsports.

DiBenedetto  qualified 13th to start the 200-lap event. On lap 50, under caution, DiBenedetto relayed the Superior Essex Toyota was loose. Crew Chief Bryan Smith called him to pit for four tires, track bar, wedge, and air pressure adjustments. After returning to green flag racing, the adjustments proved positive as the handling of the car improved.  As a result, the call was made to stay out on the next caution on lap 69 which put DiBenedetto in position to receive the lucky dog which came along with the following caution on lap 77. Being satisfied with the handling of the No. 14 Superior Essex Toyota, DiBenedetto pitted under that caution for tires and fuel only.

Opting to stay out on lap 87 caution put DiBenedetto in position to gain track position slotting him to restart second on the leaderboard. Pitting strategy played to the advantage of the No. 14 as they pitted again around lap 105 taking fuel and scuff tires which allowed DiBenedetto to stay on track till the lap 158 caution; being one of three cars scored on lead lap. As the race neared end, the Superior Essex Toyota became loose again and pitted for their last set of sticker Good-Year tires, along with a track bar and air pressure adjustments. With those adjustments, the handling improved was but needed a lap or two to settle in. DiBenedetto was able to rally and claimed an 11th place finish, on the lead lap at Kansas Speedway
