Rowdy On Pole for NXS Race, Looks to Continue Dominance

Kyle Busch won the pole for today’s Drive for Safety 300 at Chicagoland Speedway in his No. 18 NOS Energy Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. He ran a fastest lap of 180.735 MPH (29.878) to secure another pole in the 2016 season. He also starts P1 for the Cup race on Sunday.

His JGR teammate Daniel Suarez will start second, with Justin Allgaier rolling off third, Elliott Sadler fourth and Erik Jones fifth. Rounding out the top ten is Paul Menard, Clint Bowyer, Kyle Larson, Joey Logano and Ty Dillon. Some other notables include Brennan Poole in 11th, Brendan Gaughan in 12th and Darrell Wallace Jr. in 15th.

In other news, during the NXS telecast on NBCSN, Richard Childress announced that RCR has hired current BKR NCWTS driver Daniel Hemric to run full-time in the Xfinity Series next season. It has been rumored that Ty Dillon will become full-time in the Cup Series, opening up a seat for Hemric. He has qualified for the NCWTS Chase in his No. 19 Ford.

The Drive for Safety 300 goes green from Chicagoland Speedway just past 3:00 p.m. ET (2:00 p.m. CT) with television coverage on NBCSN.
