Challenging Day for Yeley Results in 20th Place Finish

NASCAR XFINITY Series driver, JJ Yeley, completes the Menards 250 with a 20th place finish in the No. 44 Zachry Toyota.

Yeley qualified 21st to start the 125 lap race. Early in the race, running in the 17th position, he relayed the Zachry Toyota was neutral. With a caution on lap 27, Yeley opted to stay out on track allowing the opportunity to gain points for leading a lap. Yeley then pitted for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment, rejoining the field 19th. As the race progressed with a long green flag run, the No. 44 became “more snug and developed a light rub in the rear”. On lap 74, Yeley came to pit under green flag conditions. He had just returned to the field and regained full speed when another caution flag came out. By staying out under caution, Yeley was scored 19th and back on the lead lap. Yeley gained track position but needed another caution to pit for a “snug” handling Toyota. On lap 86 of 125, a caution afforded Yeley the opportunity to make his third pit stop for more adjustments. Yeley continued to maintain a consistent run between 19th and 20th, and ultimately Yeley took the checkers with a 20th place finish at Michigan International Speedway.

JJ Yeley:  “Today just didn’t go as well as hoped. After a great weekend in the Poconos, I had high expectations going into this weekend race. I can’t complain about the way my Zachry Toyota handled. I could run any groove I wanted, I just felt a little bogged down on the exit of the corners. Overall it was a decent day and everyone gave it their best effort. Sometimes that’s all you can ask for.”
