Despite a late incident that led to a 22nd place finish, Lira Motorsports driver Korbin Forrister, driver of the No. 59 Far From Stock Ford Fusion, was excited to be in contention for a good finish in the General Tire 200 on Friday at Talladega Superspeedway.
Forrister was running well inside the top-20 at the time of the final restart when he was caught up in the race-ending multi-car incident. The 23-year-old said he saw nothing but smoke and crashing cars in front of him and that he had nowhere to go.
The damage destroyed his Ford, and he was unable to cross the finish line when ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards officials called the race due to approaching weather.
“They were wrecking in front of me, and I tried to go low, but somebody was in the middle line. When I came down to miss the one in front, I hit the wall. It’s unfortunate, but that’s how it goes around these superspeedways.” Forrister said.
Even though it was his first ARCA Racing Series start of the season, Forrister was happy with the car the team prepared for him.
“The car was good. We were just trying to hang on until the end there,” Forrister said. We didn’t wait long enough, I guess. We had a good car, a real fast car. I think we could have had a really good finish.”
Forrister took the time to thank his sponsors Far From Stock, Banana Bag Oral Solutions, The Sports Agency, Canine Companions, Autoluxe, Tilted Kilt, and 1015 Multimedia & Marketing. He also thanks Carlos and Amanda for allowing him to drive the car.
