Matt Tifft Fights for 23rd Place Finish in Bristol

The 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series season has been a great learning experience for talented young racer Matt Tifft and that all continued on Saturday at Bristol Motor Speedway.  The Ohio native didn’t disappoint as he piloted his No. 24 Arch Day Toyota to a hard fought 23rd place finish in the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 at the track known as “The World’s Fastest Half Mile”.

“This was my first time at Bristol in an XFINITY Series car and I think we learned a lot over the last two days,” said Tifft.  “We fought being free throughout the race so that wouldn’t allow me to be as aggressive as you need to be at this place.  The guys on this JGL Racing team worked hard over the weekend and our car really came in nicely on long runs.”

With the debut of the NASCAR XFINITY Series new Dash 4 Cash format featuring two heat races and a main event, Matt would start Heat 1 from the 15th position as a result of his qualifying effort.  The 50 lap race would find the No. 24 Arch Day Toyota struggle a little with a loose condition while finishing in the 13th spot. Tifft would roll of for the 200-lap main event in the 26th position and continue to struggle with a loose race car.  The 19-year old Young Gun would battle throughout the Main event to gain valuable track position and in the end bring his Toyota come home to a hard fought 23rd place finish.

“I really appreciate the hard work by everyone on this JGL Racing team,” added Matt.  “It was nice being able to work with the guys for the second week in a row.  We had a very good long run car but gave up too much track position from the beginning.  I learned a lot for the second week in a row and look forward to joining the JGL Racing team again next month in Charlotte.”

Tifft will be back behind the No. 24 Toyota for JGL Racing for the running of the Hisense 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday May 28, 2016.
