Ross Chastain felt sort of alone in Saturday’s Powershares QQQ 300, the Xfinity Series season-opener at Daytona International Speedway.
Chastain finished 22nd despite struggling to find reliable drafting partners over the 120-lap course of the race.
“I was trying to work the draft and get people to work with me and not having much luck,” Chastain said. “I guess I have to send out better Christmas gifts to these guys because not many wanted to work with me.
“We’ll go on to Atlanta and won’t have to rely on anybody else. We’ll do our own thing.”
Chastain, driving the Flex Seal Chevrolet, raced as high as 11th before settling into mid-pack.
