Team Penske goes 3 for 3 with Roush Yates

It was an epic battle at Texas Motor Speedway on Saturday as Brad Keselowski captured the win to secure a third consecutive NASCAR Xfinity Series owners’ championship for Roger Penske with Roush Yates Engines under the hood.

After fending off valiant efforts by his competitors, the driver of the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang led 62 laps en route to his second win in eight Xfinity Series starts this season.

“I am really proud of the effort not just today, but all season long to get my team owner Roger Penske his fourth Xfinity Series owners’ championship,” said Keselowski. “I was thinking about when I came to Team Penske in 2010, we didn’t have any, and now we have four Xfinity championships in five years. That is a huge accomplishment and a lot to be proud of.”

The 2015 owners’ championship is Penske’s fourth overall and is the result of the No. 22 Ford Mustang team capturing seven of Roush Yates Engines’ 11 Xfinity Series wins so far this season.

“We are incredibly proud of the achievement by everyone at Team Penske on capturing the win at Texas and the 2015 Xfinity Series owners’ championship,” said Doug Yates, CEO of Roush Yates Engines. “The consistent performance that theteam has shown this season is a testament to the hard work put in by everyone at Roush Yates Engines, Ford Performance and Team Penske. It truly is a team effort and one we are thrilled to celebrate.”

“Like Brad said, it is our fourth [owners’ championship] and third in a row and we are really excited,” said Mike Nelson, Vice President of Operations, Team Penske. “It is a tribute to everyone at Team Penske and we really appreciate Brad, Joey Logano, Ryan Blaney and Alex Tagliani for sitting in the seat and getting the job done.”

According to Keselowski, Saturday’s win “wasn’t a gimme race,” as other teams were in a position to capitalize on any mistake made by the No. 22 team, but the driver and crew perfected their approach to the 1.5-mile track.

“I am just blessed to be a part of this thing and have guys with his kind of talent behind the wheel because that is really what makes it roll,” said Crew Chief Greg Erwin. “We told him it was time to go and there were only about 15 or 16 laps to go, you could really see it. The thing lit up and it was a good day.”

With two races remaining in the season, Roush Yates Engines looks to add to its list of achievements as Roush Fenway Racing and driver Chris Buescher race to capture the 2015 drivers’ championship.
