NXS: Brad Keselowski Scores O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge 300 Win

Brad Keselowski ended the day at the Texas Motor Speedway victorious in his No. 22 Discount Tire Ford. Keselowski began the race in the second starting position after qualifying was canceled due to overnight rains. The Michigan driver will leave the Texas Motor Speedway with his second XFINITY Series victory of the season.

Keselowski shared his thoughts with NBC after the race.

“First off, Austin Dillon was really good and he was one of the toughest guys to beat. He ran a heck of a race. Harvick looked really good, Kyle Busch looked really good and Kyle Larson I thought was going to run away with the race until he had that flat. There was a lot of competition out there today and that makes this win very special for the whole Discount Tire Ford team.”

Sprint Cup Series drivers wasn’t able to practice as track crews had problems drying the track all morning long. Keselowski discussed whether the race on Saturday offered an advantage.

“Winning never hurts to build confidence and a large part of this sport is confidence,” continued Keselowski. “I am really proud for the whole Discount Tire Ford team.”

Kevin Harvick came 1.137 seconds short of scoring his third XFINITY Series win of the season for JR Motorsports. Harvick started the day in eighth and stayed up front for the entire 300-mile event. The California native led two different times for a total of 24 laps. Harvick now has five top five and nine top 10 finishes in 12 starts.

Austin Dillon started on the pole and led the most laps of any driver throughout the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300. Dillon led a total of three different times for a total of 55 laps of the afternoon. The North Carolina native now has four wins, 12 top five and 15 top 10 finishes this year.

Erik Jones will fall short of the weekend sweep after bringing home a fourth-place finish in his No. 20 Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing. Jones scored the win last night at Texas in the Camping World Truck Series and will sub for Matt Kenseth in Sunday’s AAA Texas 500. The Michigan native now holds 11 top five and 15 top 10 finishes in the series.

Chris Buescher will go into next weekend’s race at Phoenix sitting 24 driver points ahead of defending champion Chase Elliott with two races remaining. Buescher brought home an 11th-place run in his No. 60 Ford while Elliott finished eighth in his No. 9 Chevrolet. Ty Dillon, Regan Smith and Elliott Sadler round out the top five.
