Ryan Reed and Chris Buescher to Represent Lilly Diabetes in Dover

Roush Fenway Racing drivers Ryan Reed and Chris Buescher will both sport Lilly Diabetes paint schemes this weekend at Dover.

Reed, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2011, runs the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang weekly in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Even though Buescher does not have diabetes, he knows the importance of staying healthy and active to help him perform on the track.

Living with diabetes, Reed must go through some extra steps to prepare for the race each week. To recognize how individuals living with diabetes manage their diabetes differently, the two drivers detail how managing their pre-race routines differ as well. Reed and Buescher compare their pre-race checklists here.

“It’s really cool how Lilly Diabetes is bringing awareness to diabetes and the importance of managing a diagnosis based on an individual’s routine,” said Reed. “While Chris and I both have similar preparations before getting in the car, mine are just a little different. Obviously our goal is the same – take Lilly Diabetes and Roush Fenway Racing to Victory Lane this weekend in Dover.”

“I’m really looking forward to getting back to Dover in our Lilly Diabetes Mustang,” said Buescher. “This is one of my favorite tracks that we go to. We obviously had a great race there earlier this season, and I feel like we have an opportunity to repeat that this time around. Lilly does a tremendous amount for our organization, so I’m proud to represent them and support my Roush Fenway teammate Ryan Reed.”

Reed and Buescher both have wins in the NASCAR XFINITY Series this season. Buescher, who has two wins, won the May 2015 race at Dover and currently leads the championship point standings. Reed, who won the season-opener in Daytona, finished 11th in the May race at Dover.
