Public Invited to Join NASCAR Driver Joey Gase in Honoring Local Donors and Recipients Ahead of Xfinity Race Series

Get ready for an inspiring event as Joey Gase Racing partners with Iowa Donor Network to present the Handprints for Hope event on Thursday, June 13, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., at University of Iowa’s College of Medicine courtyard between the College of Medicine facilities and the hospital. This unique gathering invites the public to meet NASCAR driver Joey Gase and place a Handprint for Hope on Gase’s race car in support of organ and tissue donation.

The event will highlight the powerful stories of donors and recipients, featuring the hood of Gase’s car adorned with a photo of Brian McGregor of Cedar Rapids. Brian, who passed away in June 2023, saved lives through his generous act of organ donation. Joey Gase, who has been a passionate advocate for organ and tissue donation since his mother Mary’s death in 2011, will also honor her memory. Mary’s donation saved and improved the lives of 66 people, and her photo will also grace the hood of Gase’s race car.

Gase’s car, honoring both Brian McGregor and his mother Mary, along with the Handprints for Hope, will compete in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Iowa Speedway on Saturday, June 15th. The McGregor family will be present at both the race and the Handprints for Hope event, making this a heartfelt occasion for everyone involved.

The media is invited to capture the essence of this moving event on Thursday, June 13th. There will be opportunities for footage of attendees placing their Handprints for Hope on Gase’s race car, as well as interviews with Joey Gase, the McGregor family, and representatives from Iowa Donor Network.
