No. 81 QuickTie Toyota GR Supra News and Notes:
- SMITH AT SONOMA: Chandler Smith has one prior NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) start at Sonoma Raceway. He finished 14th in the 2023 NXS race at the road course.
- PORTLAND RECAP: Smith started in the rear of the field for last weekend’s race at Portland and drove all the way up to 11th by the end of the first stage. Stage 2 saw further progress as the No. 81 team collected stage points by finishing sixth. Smith cracked the top five with 15 laps remaining in the race, but sustained damage on a restart causing engine issues that ultimately ended Smith’s day.
- QUICKTIE: Quick Tie Products, Inc., (“QuickTie”) manufactures and distributes the QuickTie™ System, a proprietary, patented hold down system for high wind and seismic construction. The QuickTie™ System comprises wire rope cables with threaded rod studs swaged to each end, each with a steel bearing plate on the top end. Their cables are designed to cinch walls to their foundations from the uppermost top plates, thereby effectively resisting roof uplift and building overturning pressures. QuickTie also manufactures hangers, hold downs, plywood clips and all structural building components.
- ON THE PITBOX: Crew Chief of the No. 81, JeffMeendering has visited Victory Lane 10 times as a NXS crew chief, most recently with Smith at Richmond in March 2024. His teams have collected 65 top-five finishes, 133 top-10 finishes, and 13 pole positions under his leadership.
- JGR AT SONOMA: Joe Gibbs Racing earned a top-five finish and a pair of top-10s in last season’s inaugural Xfinity Series race at Sonoma Raceway. Ty Gibbs led the team with a fourth-place result.

Chandler Smith: “Driving from the back to the top-10 last week proved that we have good road course cars this year. This weekend should be interesting with the repave at Sonoma. I think it is going to be pretty different from the old track, so that will make things exciting, but I feel confident our team will figure it out quickly. We’ll see what we’re working with on Friday during practice.”
