Chastain powers to 10th at Darlington

Rookie Ross Chastain turned in one of his best performances of the season Saturday, rolling to a 10th-place finish in the VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 at Darlington Raceway.

Even more impressive – the race was Chastain’s first at one of racing’s toughest tracks.

“Just a great afternoon,” Chastain said. “We kept ourselves in position to advance and were able to over the closing laps. We had a great car today.”

Chastain was eighth with seven laps to go.

With the high finish, he gained one spot in Xfinity driver points to 13th.

Sprint Cup driver Denny Hamlin won the race, and Chris Buescher stayed in front in series points.
