Athenian Motorsports announced today that Alex Bowman will drive the No. 25 Zaxby’s Chevrolet in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race in Indianapolis.
John Wes Townley, who was slated to drive the car at Indy, continues to nurse a non-racing relatedinjury.
The injury was aggravated during the running of Wednesday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Eldora Speedway. He was treated and released from the infield care center following the event at Eldora.
Fifth in driver points in the Truck Series, Townley plans on resting and being prepared for that circuit’s next race in Pocono, Pa. on Saturday Aug. 1st.
