Almirola to Run Indianapolis XFINITY Race with New Sponsor

Aric Almirola will run the NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Indianapolis (Ind.) Motor Speedway this weekend for Biagi DenBeste Racing and their new partner, Sledgehammer, a brand of Treasury Wine Estates. He will compete in his first XFINITY race at Indianapolis when he pilots the No. 98 Ford at the famed 2.5-mile track. 

 

Almirola has seven starts this season with Biagi DenBeste Racing. He scored his best finish of seventh at Daytona in February. Despite not having any XFINITY starts at the track, he made three Sprint Cup Series starts since his track debut in 2012. Still knocking on the door of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, Almirola will utilize extra track time to benefit the No. 43 Eckrich Ford team on Sunday for the Brickyard 400.

 

“I have a lot of fun running with the Biagi DenBeste team, and I think that it really helps me on Sunday,” said Almirola. “Our Sprint Cup team is in a crucial time where we need to perform and get ourselves into The Chase. I really feel that running the XFINITY race helps me get a feel for race conditions that weekend. Every time I’ve run with the 98 team, it’s helped me in the Cup race the next day. I’m excited to introduce Sledgehammer to our sport as well, and hopefully, we’ll score a good finish for them on Sunday.”

The Lilly Diabetes 250 will air on NBC Sports Saturday, July 25 at 3:30 p.m. EST with Almirola behind the wheel of the No. 98 Treasury Wine Estates Ford.
