Dylan Lupton New Hampshire Review/John Wes Townley Eldora and Indy Preview

California native Dylan Lupton got his first glimpse of New Hampshire Motor Speedway early Friday morning. Three hours later, Lupton, a member of the current NASCAR Next class, was turning his first laps on the Magic Mile, which is tucked away in scenic Loudon, N.H.

“This place is nothing like Phoenix,” said Lupton, who cut his racing teeth on tracks on the NASCAR K&N West Series.

Lupton would go on to qualify 26th and finish 24th in the No. 25 Zaxby’s Chevrolet during Saturday’s Lake Regions 200 for the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

The talented Lupton will be back in the Athenian Motorsports Chevrolet when the Xfinity Series returns to Iowa Speedway on Saturday night Aug. 1st.

John Wes Townley returns to the Athenian Motorsports lineup this week when he pulls double-duty. Townley will drive the No. 05 Zaxby’s Chevrolet in Wednesday night’s NASCAR Camping  World Truck Series 150 lap race on the half-mile dirt track known as Eldora Speedway in New Weston, Ohio.

Townley has competed in the previous two Truck Series race staged at the historic facility owned by Sprint Cup driver Tony Stewart.

“I didn’t do a whole lot of racing on dirt growing up, so that puts me at a little disadvantage,” said the 25-year-old Townley. “However, I did run the first two truck races at Eldora. So, I think that will certainly help me and our Athenian team get the Zaxby’s Chevrolet dialed in for this race.”

Once the checkered flag falls at Eldora on Wednesday night, Townley will trek to Indiana where he will participate in Saturday’s prestigious NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the 2.5-mile mecca of motorsports, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“I got to compete in this race last year at Indy and it was a complete learning curve the entire weekend,” said Townley, who finished 28th in this event in 2014. “I know me and the entire Zaxby’s team will be much-better prepared for this race and we’re looking forward to posting a great finish.”
