Ross Chastain returns to the scene of his best seasonal finish Saturday as the Xfinity Series races in the Subway Firecracker 250 at Daytona International Speedway.
Chastain, a rookie, made a spectacular debut in the Xfinity season opener at Daytona, rolling home a solid ninth after a strong day on the high banks.
He’ll shoot for more in Saturday’s race in the Watermelon.org No. 4 Chevrolet fielded by JD Motorsports with Gary Keller.
“I think we surprised a lot of people back in February with how we ran,” Chastain said. “We’re ready to go at it again in Daytona. It’s a track I love and have always respected, and it’s great to go back there with a good finish already in our pockets.”
Chastain’s car will carry a special red, white and blue paint scheme, with a touch of watermelon, in celebration of the July 4 holiday. The National Watermelon Association is the sponsoring group.
