Dakoda Armstrong Looks to Shine in Standalone Event at Chicago

Dakoda Armstrong is ready to shine in this weekend’s race at Chicagoland Speedway. With no Sprint Cup regulars on the entry list, the team hopes to take advantage of the standalone weekend and continue to make headway in the point standings. Armstrong fought through adversity last week in Michigan recovering from a pass-through penalty and gained valuable points on his competitors. Currently, Armstrong sits 13th in the XFINITY Series Championship Point Standings, 18 points outside of 12th position.

The No. 43 WinField team has a pair of 16th place finishes at the last two 1.5-mile tracks. The team will work off of the notes from Texas to replicate the same speed that allowed them to lead laps there in the spring race.

Armstrong has a total of seven starts at the mile-and-a-half track in Chicago in different racing series, including one ARCA Racing Series, three Truck Series and three XFINITY Series starts. In those seven starts, he has two Top-15 and six Top-20 finishes with a best finish of 11th in the 2010 ARCA race.

“I think all of the XFINITY Series regulars are looking forward to this weekend. The standalone races give us a great opportunity to showcase our talent. We’re really hoping to make a statement at Chicago. The intermediate tracks have been our strength this year. We led a handful of laps back at Texas, and we want to get back to that level of performance. We’ve certainly improved overall compared to last year. This team works hard. I know everyone at the shop can see it, and we want to show everyone that dedication with a great finish this weekend.”
