Earnhardt’s Return Spoiled

Jeffrey Earnhardt’s return to NASCAR Xfinity Series competition did not go as planned, as a wreck on lap 105 cut his day short.  Earlier in the day, Earnhardt qualified in the 26th position for the Great Clips 250.  He had steadily marched his way forward through the field in his No. 55 Fronius USA / Viva Auto Group Chevrolet Camaro.  Earnhardt had reached the 20th position when after a restart, contact between two vehicles cause the field to scatter.  While slowing down to avoid contact, the No. 55 machine got loose and slid into the No. 44 machine of David Starr and the turn 3 wall.  The damage was too severe to repair and the Viva Motorsports team left Michigan International Speedway with a 34th place result.
