Edwards Posts Roush Fenway’s Ninth Nationwide Win of the Season in Atlanta

Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards led 101 of 195 laps in a dominating performance at Atlanta Motor Speedway for his sixth Nationwide Series win of the 2011 season. Once again Edwards had to overcome a pit-road penalty, but he still went on to lead the most laps in the No. 60 Fastenal Ford Mustang. The win is Roush Fenway’s ninth this season in the Nationwide Series and its sixth career Nationwide win at AMS.

“I can’t believe we got the pole and the win; what a heck of a race,” said Edwards. “It was a lot of fun. This track is as good as it gets. I can’t wait for tomorrow night. I have to thank Fastenal. This was a big week for Fastenal. We announced a big partnership for next year. This is just a big weekend for us.”

All three Roush Fenway Ford Mustangs led on the night, with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finishing third and increasing his series’ points lead from five to 13 markers. Trevor Bayne had one of the best cars in the field, but was caught up in a late accident and finished 33rd.

“Our Blackwell Angus/Cargill Mustang was just strong all night,” said Stenhouse. “We struggled in the pits, but were able to overcome it. This was a great crowd here tonight, and we had a lot of fun racing in front of them.”

Roush Fenway and the Nationwide Season return to action next Friday night at Richmond International Raceway. Roush Fenway has won nine times in Nationwide action at RIR.
