NXS: Austin Dillon Steals Boyd Gaming 300 Victory

JOPLIN, Mo. – Austin Dillon captured the Boyd Gaming 300 victory on Saturday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway after starting from the pole in his No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet. Dillon’s car was so strong that he led five different times for 183 of the 200 scheduled laps. Dillon will take home his third career NASCAR XFINITY Series win.

Coming up short in the closing laps was Ryan Blaney who will take home the runner-up spot. Blaney started from the fourth position that carried him to his 13th career XFINITY Series top five finish. The Boyd Gaming 300 marked his first start in the series in 2015. Blaney came 0.664 seconds short of the victory.

Regan Smith will be the highest XFINITY Series regular in the race after a third-place finishing effort. Smith brought home his first top five finish of the 2015 season on Saturday. The New York native finished 3.085 seconds behind the race winner.

Brian Scott, who qualified beside his teammate on the front row, did not have a good day due to engine issues since the drop of the green flag. Despite waiting until the first caution flew to come down pit road, the team then decided to take the No. 2 Chevrolet to the garage area. They were unable to diagnose the situation and had to finish 38th.

The next race for the NASCAR XFINITY Series will be at the Phoenix International Raceway next Saturday. Live coverage will begin at 4:00 p.m. Et. live on FOX. The Motor Racing Network will provide the live radio broadcast.
