Shepherd makes dream come true at Bristol

Morgan Shepherd’s #89 Nationwide Series race team’s number one priority is to make lives who are less fortunate just a little better.

The Shepherd team will host a special guest at Friday’s Food City 250 Nationwide Series race event and pre-race festivities.

Kyle Keaton, 23, of Portsmouth, Ohio was born with Cystic Fibrosis and is in dire need of a double lung transplant. In the past two weeks Kyle was put on the list for the operation once compatiple lungs are available.

Kyle is a huge NASCAR fan and his favorite driver is Dale Earnhardt Jr. Kyle is an avid collector of Dale Earnhardt Jr. memorabilia and never misses a televised race, rooting for his favorite driver on television.

A close friend of Shepherd who is from Kyle’s hometown of Portsmouth, informed Shepherd of the possibility of bringing Kyle to his first race as guest and possibly helping him to meet his favorite driver. Shepherd agreed. Kyle will be accompanied by his mother Jo Ellen, and lifelong friend Jarred Kotcamp. Kyle will be transported with medical assistance by ABLE EMS Medical Transport Company of nearby Wheelersburg, Ohio, whose logos will also appear on Shepherd’s #89 Chevrolet.

“I’m on the list and they could call me any day so I have to be ready at a moment’s notice,” says Keaton. “But this is one day that I hope they do not call me. I’m so thankful there are people out there like a Morgan Shepherd who take the time out of their busy schedule to make this possible. I just can’t believe it!”
