A late-race mechanical issue cost Landon Cassill a solid finish in Saturday night’s VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 Nationwide Series race at Kentucky Speedway.
Cassill finished 29th after a broken valve spring and dropped valve in the closing laps sent him to the garage.
“A tough night,” Cassill said. “We were rolling along fine until we had the late-race issue. It’s tough to see a good finish disappear because of a parts failure.”
Cassill, who started 22nd, ran has high as 11th.
Brendan Gaughan won the race, his second victory of the season. Rookie Chase Elliott stayed in the point lead.
