Armstrong Confident Going Into Chicago After Showing Improvement

Dakoda Armstrong and the No. 43 WinField team are coming off of their best effort of the season after finishing seventh in Friday night’s NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Richmond International Raceway. Armstrong’s career-best Nationwide finish came just three weeks after his first Top-10 finish of 2014 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

This weekend, the team will look to carry that momentum to Chicagoland Speedway where Armstrong finished 20th in July. The team feels like they improved during the race and will use information from fellow Ford Racing teammates at Roush Fenway Racing after Trevor Bayne posted a second-place finish earlier this year.

Armstrong has a total of six starts at the mile-and-a-half track in different racing series, including one ARCA Racing Series, three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and two NASCAR Nationwide Series start. In those six starts, he has two Top-15 and six Top-20 finishes.

“We were just at Chicago in July and that’s right when we started making some progress on our season. I’m looking forward to going back there for a second time and seeing how much we can improve, especially coming off of our best finish of the season. We were able to improve on the car during the race so that’s encouraging this time around. Also, we have a better starting point to unload this weekend. The top line comes into effect during the race, and I hope it does again because I think that helped us. I think we can do better this time around of focusing on that top line and getting more speed out of the car early in practice to make us better in qualifying and the race.”
